A large crowd cheered last Saturday night as Theron Denson made a special appearance at the 103 East Bar & Grill in Buckley. Known as the “Black Diamond” because he sounds almost exactly like top performer Neil Diamond, Theron wowed the audience for over 3 hours with only two short breaks to change his costume. His sparkling shirts were replicas of the ones the real Neil Diamond wears during his shows.
Theron’s great voice and singing style is not his only virtue: his warm, outgoing personality radiated as he performed. He touched everyone in the audience; more than one face was wet with tears as he sang “Turn On Your Heartlight.”
The icing on the cake for the evening was a surprise performance by a young performer who recently moved to this area from Chicago. Bryan Scott captivated the audience as he sang several songs with the Black Diamond and his solos had everyone on their feet and cheering.
Both men interacted with the audience, with one lady in particular. Sharee Williams had come all the way from Bradley to hear for herself how much Theron sounded like the real Diamond. During the evening, Sharee got up on the stage and they both sang Sheree’s favorite song, “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers.”
The end of the show came all too soon, even after a grueling three-hour performance. Theron was detained much longer signing autographs and a promise was made to come back and perform next New Year’s Eve, along with the other evening’s gem, Bryan Scott.
